Proud pet parent of:
kobie, and i foster
How we met:
she was brought in to the rescue i volunteer at, and she was emanciated, had flees and was severly matted. i gave her a bath, and was cutting the mats out of her fur, when she jumped up on me, put her front legs around my neck and started to kiss me. i told mia i was keeping her, and now she is mine.
Pet likes:
fetch, treats, her sleep, the beach and walks
Pet dislikes:
baths
Pet’s favorite spot:
my bed
Pet’s favorite toy:
the ones she destroys....
Pet’s silliest habit:
she runs to the back door when someone rings the front doorbell.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
when we met.
I crack up when my pet:
does most of the things she does.
My pet is unique because:
she is the perfect rescue. other than her garbage fettish, i havent had most prolblems that come along with most rescues. most people dont understand the amount and degree of seperation anxiety, bad behavoirs, and lack of training a lot of rescues have, but i lucked out with kobie. she's the greatest.

some happy stories

i volunteer at a rescue, and while there are sad stories, i like to focus on the happy ones. i also like to tell these, since it educates and encourages adoptions.

-we rescued coral, a pitbull mix, a few months ago from the pound. she was up for euthinasia, but the staff at the pound called us, begging us to take in coral in our program. coral is about the sweetest dog ever, and when they had her up, ready to be euthinized, she put both her covered her face with both of her paws. the s…

It might have been this one... Just tell me if it's not.

"The Miracle of Life"
"Come quick, come quick," their mother said, "the time is getting near."
She feels that when the kittens come the children should be here.
She told them that a big orange tom took "Kitty" as his wife.
"It's wonderful, a gift from God, the miracle of life."
At half a year young "Kitty" feels too painful and too scared,
to appreciate six miracles, blind-eyed and yellow haired.
But she knows these lives depend on her and nature tells her how,
and as she cleans them, children ask "Mom, can we go now?"
Now and then for six more weeks the children visit her
to play with six new magic toys made of life and fur.
The six weeks pass, the newness gone and new homes yet unfound,
Mom bundles up six miracles and takes them to the pound.
Where lovingly, with gentle hands and no tears left to cry,
the shelter workers kiss them once and take them off to die.
And "Momma Kitty" now she's called mourns her loss and then,
she's put outside and, of course, she's pregnant once again.
Dad tells Kitty "STOP THIS NOW or you wont live here long!"
but deep inside of Momma Cat, this time something's wrong.
Too young, too small, too often bred now nature's gone awry,
Momma Kitty feels it, too, and she crawls off to die.
She, too, is freed from this cruel world and from her time of strife.
How harsh the truth, how high the price, this "Miracle of Life?"

HI MANDY: THE POEM IS ACTUALLY: "PUPPY FOR SALE". BUT YOU COULD EASILY CHANGE THE TITLE TO KITTEN OR CAT FOR SALE. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL POEM AND I GET CHOKED UP EVERYTIME I READ IT. WE DON'T USUALLY JUDGE PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES NOR SHOULD WE JUDGE ANIMALS WITH DISABILITIES, DEFORMITIES OR BIRTH DEFECTS EITHER. JUST AS HUMANS, THEY TOO NEED LOVE, SUPPORT, PATIENCE, UNDERSTANDING AND A LOVING PLACE TO CALL HOME. I’LL ATTACH THE LINK FOR IT. YOUR FRIEND ALWAYS IN ALL THE BEAUTIFUL, FABULOUS, LOVING FURRY FRIENDS AROUND THE WORLD, KAREN

Yes, I have. Not for about a year and a half now. I would rescue dogs in different states, put them in the truck, bring them home, get vet care, and find them homes before I had to leave again. it was sooo cool. But my guys are getting a little older now and I'm less willing to subject them to an unknown dog with who-knows-what for problems. Heck, my shepherd, bear is a rescue!! I had to go through all kinds of crap for him. And well worth it, too. What I need to do is expand the dog lot and maybe partition it into 2. We have some acreage here, it's just not financially feasible for us to have the fencing done right now. I'm looking at returning to school. my trucking days are done, so I need a new vocation that will replace the good money I made. (and support more critters!!) My dogs call us mom and dad. And my mother is grammy. LOL!! We're nuts!!

I'm just down in the dumps. I can't ever forget my mama saying goodbye to her son on mothers day. I'm trying to focus on what I can do instead of our loss. (ain't doing to good a job at it though)
I have no kids...hooray!!! I'm taking mom to church with us on Sunday and then I'm making some great kabobs for dinner. Gunnar and Bear will no doubt eat a little of it being as how it's going to be chicken. LOL!!! They'll like that. They always get the stuff I don't eat cooked up for them and put in their food as a treat.(hearts, livers, gizards and necks!!) And Sunday's they always get a special supper anyway. Spoiled rotten, they are. LOL!!! You have a good one. Do you have children yet? probably not. you're still very young. Well, you've got a whole lifetime for that when you get out of the navy!!
