How we met:
DOGS:
CAIN-I pulled Cain out of a shelter a day before he was going to be euthanized.

MISSY- She was a free by-product of an irresponsible owner's dogs, she never got them spayed and neutered.

BIZKIT- I adopted Bizkit from the Capital Area Humane Society, I will never find a better dog than her.

ROSIE- She came with my Mom's boyfriend. She was actually a puppy mill dog. Her first owners bought her at Petland and we are her 7th owners.

CATS-
MORRIS- Morris was abandoned at an apartment complex, his owners moved away and left him there, so we took him in. He is a very special cat.

VICTORIA- She was also abandoned, We found her at a car lot living in one of the cars.

JAYJAY- She too was abandoned, Her owners left her locked up in their trailer to die after they moved, the house was infested with fleas, she was also pregnant.

TABBY- She again was also abandoned, we found her her at our current house. Someone moved and left her here.

HORSES:
T.J.- We adopted T.J. from a rescue that pulled him from the kill pen before he was sent to slaughter.

CHARLOTTE- We rescued Charlotte from a neglectful owner that did not feed her and kept her in a bad enviroment.

SASSY- I bought Sassy from her first owner as a yearling, I wanted a potential show horse I could train by myself.

MY RABBIT AND PIG-
TROUBLE-I bought my rabbit at Tractor Supply, It was an impulse buy and I felt bad about it, and I could have adopted one from the shelter.

BELLA- Bella was bought from her first owner, she could not keep her and we wanted to try out a Pot Bellied Pig.
Pet likes:
All my pets love treats and being loved on, They LOVE being outdoors. Also haveing a soft and fluffy place to sleep.
Pet dislikes:
All of my pets hate being scolded and taking baths.
Pet’s favorite spot:
Where ever I am and anywhere with a soft place to sleep.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Dogs like sticks, leadropes, frogs, and the cats.
Cats like balls or anything that rolls, and laser's.
Horses like likit toys.
My pet is unique because:
They all have such a unique personality.
"Rescuer's Prayer"

Now I lay me down to rest,
I pray my soul can stand this test.
Of watching little ones loose their homes,
While owners gripe and cry and moan.

I long for strength of spirit and,
I pray they'll find a home again.
Where they'll know a loving heart,
I can't do much, but it's a start.

And spare me from the owner's pleas,
About the children's allergies.
Or how they're moving out of state,
Or spitefullness 'tween cat and mate.

Please keep me sane while dealing with,
The woman who bought as a gift,
A wriggling tiny ball of fluff,
That now is playing way too rough.

Please remind me to think inside,
What it is they're trying to hide.
He's shedding so much, there's too much hair,
Its all around the house, its everywhere.

Remind me to bite my lip,
When confronted with "he grew too quick."
"I didn't know he'd get so large,"
"He seems to think that he's in charge."

Protect my heart when I hear them say,
"I think we'll breed our dog someday."
Sometimes I think it'll break in two,
Each day brings trials harsh and new,

It hurts me when they call and say,
"They're too much work, they cannot stay."
"If you don't take them, not right now,
My husband will do 'em in, and don't ask how."

If I die before I wake,
I pray one hopeless soul you'll take.
My tears are gone, my faith is bare,
Lord, please hear my rescue prayer.

I am the voice of the voiceless;
Through me the dumb shall speak,
Till' the deaf worlds ears be made to hear,
The wrongs of the wordless weak,
And I am my brothers keeper,
And I will fight his fights;
And speak the words for beast and bird,
Till' the world shall set things right.

WAKE UP!

Shelters and foster homes are completely overwhelmed with trying to care for dogs and cats. They literally have no more space! What does this mean? It means that over 800 dogs and cats or puppies and kittens will be euthanized every hour of everyday. If you don't spay and neuter your pets, this is 100% your fault. No bones about it. People like me who care for ferals, rescue homeless animals that are stranded or even foster animals have lives, careers, families and our own pets. We use our ow… Continue

In The "Back" Of An Animal Shelter...

I am posting this (and it is long) because I think our society needs a huge "Wake-up" call. As a shelter manager, I am going to share a little insight with you all...a view from the inside if you will. First off, this is a forum to for adoption and/or rehoming as clearly stated in the rules. All of you breeders/sellers on craigslist should not only be flagged (and I hope the good people on craigslist will continue to do so with blind fury), but you should be made to work in the "back" of an anim… Continue

Arguments From Breeders

"But the animals I breed get (good) homes." You're kidding right? What about the animals that DONT GET HOMES just because YOU breed. Just because you find an animal a home doesn't mean it will be there forever, a lot of times people who buy a dog from a breeder will be in a situation where they can't have the animal anymore.. (kids on the way, getting a new house, moving to a place where pets are unwelcome, etc.) However, if a person gets a pet from a shelter, they are less likely to take it BA… Continue

Moving To An Appartment Community That Doesn't Allow Kids...

MOVING TO APARTMENT COMMUNITY THAT DOESN'T ALLOW KIDS (THIS IS A JOKE FOR THOSE WITHOUT A SENSE OF HUMOR!) I am moving to an apartment community that doesn't allow kids so I need to find mine a new home. I've had him 18 years so getting rid of him will be hard but I really like those darn apartments. He is up to date and current on all shots and housebroken. He is however NOT NEUTERED as I just never had the heart or the money to have it done. He is a good boy though mostly he is a little laz… Continue

Should I Breed My Dog? Think Again....

SHOULD I BREED MY DOG?? Almost everyone who owns a dog thinks about breeding it at least once. Raising a litter sounds easy and fun -- but having puppies isn’t all its cracked up to be. Breeding dogs involves much more work and responsibility than most people are prepared for. Before you breed your dog, there are some important things to consider: Will all your puppies find good, permanent homes? According to the Humane Society of the United States and the government Census Burea… Continue

Our son was originally interested in starting his own kennel. However, he later decided not to do so. Champ was killed by a Sheriff's Deputy and we are thankful that we have his son, Duke!! Duke is about to be neutered in a couple of weeks though. After learning more about the breed, the discrimination issues, etc. our son doesn't want to run a kennel but will get his next bully from a rescue, when the time is right. Delete Comment

Hey! I work for the lorain county SPCA, where we take in strays, negelected and abused cats and dogs, we get them all the treatment they need and vaccinate them and post them on petfinders.com and then people can look at them online, and just try out hardest to find them good homes.
