brandy please read my comment under teresa's to show that i feel the same way about declawing my little boy whose surgey is tomorrow so plz just read it
hi brandy :]
I can only imagine how hard it is for you to consider declawing your cats. I have a cat, and he is a feral cat, who is very socialized now. He lives outside. A lot of his life concerns his claws. I would not put him through it. I know you love your cats very much, I think you should thoroughly consider each option you have and whatever decision you make will be a good one, as long as you are happy with it.
One idea that might work is confront the landlord or whoever is in control of the apt. Voice your dilemma and explain your feelings. If he/she will not sway, make a pro/con list. make a T chard and list the pros and cons of each one. You will then see which one will be the better in the long run.
please dont be afraid to share your decision..you have had many different ones..i of course wish you could find an alternative..but we all have to do what is right to us.
and have faith...

Just one more thing, the procedure is actually amputating your cats toes as they are connected to the nail. Please educate your self on this procedure before you commit to moving in that Apartment. I hope you haven't you won't abandon your cats to this procedure. If nothing else put them up for adoption so you can save their little toes.
If you truly care about Miss Kitty and Holly.

Brandy:
Make sure to read the responses you got on the Group Catsville. You should break your lease or ask the Landlord or Apartment Management Company that instead of declawing to have a Pet Ownership Rental Addendum in which you will certify or give them money up front, the money it would cost to declaw; do anything but don't declaw just for the sake of the aparment. You need to do something and we in the Group hope you will do something. You asked for our opinions now you need step to the plate.
Thank you for listening to my concerns about your decisions here.

PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT DECLAW!! ITS BUTCHERING YOUR CATS "TOES" - SERIOSLY... THEY CUT THE END OF THEM OFF AT THE JOINT... AND MANY VETS WILL NOT DO IT ANYMORE. I BEG YOU... ITS SO SEVERE AND SHOULD BE ILLEGAL. TRY SOFT PAWS... THEY WORK WELL! I USED THEM MANY TIMES. PLEASE!!
Brandy please go to the discussion about declawing cats. It's awful for them... use something else like soft claws. Please go there and read what many say about declawing. You don't want to do that.
