Poquie we met first at a pet store . She was in with other black kittens but she was looking at me and I brought her home.
I met Duffy at a flea market in Sioux Falls, SD. He was there for adoption and everyone had been manhandling him. I picked him up and he leaned against me and went to sleep. He was mine.
Pet likes:
Both of them liked bringing little live animals home as a way of contributing to the household income. They both loved to sit in the den window and look out. Duffy loved to sit on a chair next to me when I was at the computer and put his head and paw on my leg. Poquie couldn't sleep unless she was tucked along the right side of my body with her head on my shoulder. Duffy liked to sleep bumped up against one of us, making it hard to move during the night. If I was sitting down and showed either of them a comb, they would come right up on my lap to get combed.
Pet dislikes:
Lutefisk, loud noises
Pet’s favorite spot:
Poquie was on the bed and Duffy's was in the den with me.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Catnip toys or a little fur mouse but then, they would only chew off the tail and then were done with it.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Duffy liked to live in boxes with tissue paper in it. Poquie liked to carry frogs with the little legs hanging out of her mouth. She never killed them, just brought them home.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Both loved to sit on my chest and purr.
I crack up when my pet:
plays fetch with their rubber balls. I would throw them and they would bring them back yowling all the way. I wore out before they did.
My pet is unique because:
They were so much a part of my soul. Poquie was MY cat and wouldn't come to anyone else. Duffy was such a beauty and kept his distance unless he chose otherwise. Both long furs and very soft. Their moods usually mirrored mine.
HI Lisa,
I made it through my first birthday without him. I was talking to him before I went to bed and on my birthday I woke up and found (now this is a person who clean and vacuumed like nobody's business after Duff died looking for any speck of him) a long white whisker and a footprint. How is that for a birthday present. I also found I have gotten a little peace.
Thank you for understanding.

Cat,
Your talking with somenone who clings to pieces of fur....from a cocker spaniel..Chelsea Morgan who left me many years ago.. that I still have in a ziploc baggy!!! As for the fresh barf...I do understand.
In support and understanding of your loss and grief,

Today is the 3rd week since Duffy was put to sleep. It has been a very hard day. I have spent a lot of time journaling but still feel the sharp pain and emptiness that I have had since he died. Hug and kiss your kitties extra for me tonight please.
Thanks,
Cat
You absolutely cannot have any reason to work to "convince yourself" that you did anything other than your best. The problem with our pets is that they do not live as long as we do. I don't believe that you will ever stop missing Duffy, but at some point you will be able to cope better. That you miss him so badly speaks to how special he was. I would not feel badly for grieving, it is natural, because you are sad for your loss, for yourself. But you need not feel sad for Duffy, he is not suffering as you are, and I believe will be in safe hands and truly happy in his own way, for as long as it takes. In a way, you should be happy for him...
Thank you! I take good care of my babies, and feed them the best food, it seems that they eat better than I do!! 5 out of the 9 are bottle fed orphans that I rescued when they were about 3 weeks old.
