2 male cats,Jimmy is 4 years old and Michael is 8.
How we met:
I adopted Michael from Humane Society and Jimmy adopted us, he and his twin brother was abandoned by people who moved away. Jimmy was presisted to become part of this family and you know what they say about being presistent, it pays off. I am grateful for Jimmy and Michael for coming into my life.
Pet likes:
Jimmy likes human tuna in a can but doesn't like human food. I don't like giving Jimmy tuna because of the mercury. Jimmy and Michael now eat Wellness can food and Evo dry food for snack time. If I give the boys tuna, it's from a speciality dog and cat food store and it's real tuna.
Pet dislikes:
Jimmy doesn't like human food. Michael doesn't like his paws touched and doesn't like to be picked up.
Pet’s favorite spot:
Both cats like sitting next to me where ever I am.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Both like the stick with a piece of long narrow cloth and Michael likes to toss little things that he can find.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Jimmy likes putting his teeth next to my skin and sometimes nicks me with his teeth and slowly rubs his fur against my legs when he is hungry. He remines me of a shark swimming back and forth getting ready to attack his prey, which he does! If I don't feed him right away. Michael lets Jimmy do all the work for food.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Jimmy likes walking up to me when I am laying down or sitting in a chair and totally dominates me and purrs and kneads his paws and nails into my clothes and will sit on my chest if I am laying down staring at me and purring. Michael likes sleeping next to my head.
I crack up when my pet:
Jimmy wants to get my attention, he is presistant! Michael is too but not as presistant as Jimmy. Jimmy has attitude with an angry look on his face until I pay attention to him and will talk with Meow's and if that does't work, he will give me a love bite with his sharpe teeth and that hurts! When Michael want to wake me up or just play with me, he will pull my hair.
My pet is unique because:
Jimmy never gives up until he gets what he wants, Michael is more understanding and can wait. Both cats are healing; Jimmy is healing for the physical and Michael is healing for the emotional.

What Do Great Minds Say About Eating Peices Of Animal Carcass?
Paul McCartney-Singer,former Beatles guitarist:
"One may not eat what has a face."
"I believe in peaceful protest and not eating animals is a protest free of violence."
"During a Sunday lunch we happened to look out of the kitchen window at our young lambs playing happily in the fields. Glancing down at our plates, we suddenly realized we were eating the leg of an animal which had until recently been playing in the field itself. We looked at each other and said: "Wait a minute, we love these sheep-they're such gentle creatures. So why are we eating them?" Later, on vacation in Barbados, we drove behind a truck loaded with magnificent hens that disappeared into a poultry plant. Since then we no longer eat something that has to be killed beforehand." If slaughterhouses had glass walls, everyone would be vegetarian. We feel better about ourselves and better about the animals, knowing we're not contributing to their pain."
Albert Einstein - "Nothing will increase the chance of survival on earth as a step toward a vegetarian diet."
Alice Walker - (1944) American author: "As we spoke one day about freedom and justice, we were at the dinner table eating steaks. I 'm eating misery, I thought, as I took the first bite. Then I spit it out."

How many among you are there already who never would have eaten meat if they themselves had to plunge the knife into the throat of the animal in question!"
"From one hundred educated and sensitive people, already today ninety would never eat meat again if they had to kill or stab to death the animal that they eat themselves."

"A BOND OF LOVE" This picture of a homeless man cuddling his dog called to my heart because I see a loving human being with compassion for life in saving a dog no matter what his situation is. See their total love of surrender to each other as their hearts become one in a bond of love.
A Prayer for Animals: Hear, our humble prayer, O God, for our friends, the animals. Especially for animals who are suffering; for any that are hunted or lost or deserted or frightened or hungry; for all that must be put to death. We entreat for them all thy mercy and pity, and for those who deal with them, we ask a heart of compassion and gentle hands and kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true friends to animals and so to share the blessings of the merciful.
THEY KNOW
Cows are extremely gentle and affectionate animals, forming strong bonds with one another, particularly between mother and child. As Michael Klaper M.D. recalls “The very saddest sound in all my memory was burned into my awareness at age five on my uncle’s dairy farm in Wisconsin. A cow had given birth to a beautiful male calf...On the second day after birth, my uncle took the calf from the mother and placed him in the veal pen in the barn—only ten yards away, in plain view of his mother. The mother cow could see her infant, smell him, hear him, but could not touch him, comfort him, or nurse him. The heartrending bellows that she poured forth—minute after minute, hour after hour, for five long days—were excruciating to listen to. They are the most poignant and painful auditory memories I carry in my brain.” truth or dairy Cows produce milk for the same reason that humans do—to nourish their young—but calves born on dairy farms are taken from their mothers when they are just one day old and fed milk replacers so that humans can have the milk instead.[1,2] In order to keep a steady supply of milk, the cows are repeatedly impregnated. Several times a day, dairy cows are hooked by their udders to electronic milking machines, which can cause the cows to suffer electrical shocks, painful lesions, and mastitis. Some spend their entire lives standing on concrete floors; others are crammed into massive mud lots. Although cows would naturally make only enough milk to meet the needs of their calves (around 16 pounds a day), genetic manipulation, antibiotics, and hormones are used to force each cow to produce more than 18,000 pounds of milk a year (an average of 50 pounds a day).[3,4,5] Cows on factory farms suffer from a variety of health problems including mastitis, a painful inflammation of the mammary glands. In order to further increase profits, Bovine Growth Hormone (BGH), a synthetic hormone, is now being injected into cows to get them to produce even more milk. The hormones adversely affect the cows’ health and increase the rate of birth defects in their calves.[6] BGH may also cause breast and prostate cancer in humans.[7]
Cows have a natural lifespan of about 25 years and can produce milk for eight or nine years, but the stress caused by factory farm conditions leads to disease, lameness, and reproductive problems that render cows worthless to the dairy industry by the time they are four or five years old, at which time they are sent to the slaughterhouse.[8,9] cruelty in a crate Few consumers realize that veal is a direct by-product of the dairy industry. In order for dairy cows to produce milk, they must be impregnated. While female calves are slaughtered or added to the dairy herd, many male calves are taken from their mothers when they are as young as one day old and chained in tiny stalls to be raised for veal.[10,11] The confinement is so extreme that they cannot even turn around or lie down comfortably.[12] As author John Robbins notes, “The veal calf would actually have more space if, instead of chaining him in such a stall, you stuffed him into the trunk of a subcompact car and kept him there for his entire life.” Many veal calves are deliberately kept anemic in order to produce light-colored meat, which fetches higher prices in restaurants. Their liquid-based, iron-deficient diets cause numerous health problems. Motherless and alone, they suffer from ulcers, diarrhea, pneumonia, and lameness.[13,14] After three to 18 weeks of this deprivation, they are trucked to the slaughterhouse, where their young lives are taken from them.

In case you were still curious to learn what really goes on behind the closed doors of beef slaughterhouses, the release of a secret video by the Humane Society (www.HSUS.org) silenced the skeptics and naysayers by revealing the horrifying atrocities committed against diseased cows by slaughterhouse employees (click here to see the Humane Society investigation). As the secret videos show, cows at the Westland slaughterhouse in California were forklifted, electrocuted with cattle prods, kicked and otherwise abused by workers in order to get them into the processing lines so they could be used as meat for the human food supply. These actions, of course, were taken in violation of federal law. USDA regulations state that non-ambulatory cows (those that can't walk) should never be used in the human food supply due to the risk of disease (mad cow disease in particular). But given that non-ambulatory cows cause a financial loss for slaughterhouses, there is a strong financial incentive to drag, shove, shock or otherwise kick those cows into the processing line so that their flesh can be transformed into a few more bucks of profit for these beef processing companies (and all the companies downstream that use beef, too, like fast food chains, canned soup manufacturers, providers to school lunch programs and so on). In reaction to the secret video, the USDA has issued a massive recall of 143 million pounds of frozen beef. That's the largest ever in the history of the United States. Five felony counts of animal cruelty were charged to the pen manager who worked at the plant, and three misdemeanor charges were filed against another employee. The company has not yet been charged with anything. Note that this would have never happened unless the Humane Society video had brought all this to light. About 37 million pounds of the recalled beef had already been set to school lunch programs at the time of the USDA recall. But here's the real kicker: Most of that beef has already been eaten by schoolchildren! Images like this one from The HSUS’s recent investigation shocked the nation and led to the USDA announcement on downers earlier today.
Dear Linda,
This morning, the USDA announced that it will implement a complete ban on slaughter for human consumption of cattle unable to stand and walk unassisted. The decision comes after The Humane Society of the United States documented horrible abuses of downed cows in a series of undercover videos.
For far too long, sick and crippled animals have been allowed into the food supply, subjecting them to needless torment and putting consumers at risk. Thanks in part to many thousands of animal advocates who emailed and called public officials about the scandalous mistreatment of these animals, the USDA is moving to close the downer loophole. We are calling on the agency to expedite the process and ban the slaughtering of downers without delay.
Once the loophole is closed, we'll push for additional reforms. Stronger federal legislation is needed to ensure humane euthanasia of downers and protect all farm animals from this kind of abuse. We'll continue to lobby for further reforms and keep you updated.
Thank you for playing an active part in this victory, and for all you do for animals.
Sincerely,
Wayne Pacelle President & CEO The Humane Society of the United States
GETTING RID OF THE BEEF Sentenced Friday, February 22nd at 11:00 a.m., courtroom 1 at the Blair County Courthouse, 423 Allegheny Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648. If you can come early and bring a sign to protest her conviction and the continued inadequacies of the Blair County Court system, it would be much appreciated. Any questions, please call the office at 814.941.7447. Thanks to everyone for your continued support during this ordeal with Tammy and for Doogie, who truly did deserve better. www.dogsdeservebetter.com **Update on Tammy Grimes case: She was found guilty but no jail, but she did get 300 hours community service, had to pay fines and court costs. The community service is for "people" because obviously if we care about animals we must not care about people; must be the genius of the Judge and DA behind that one. And I think it's $5 or $10 an hour she has to pay to do community service. We filed a complaint against the Arnold's for abuse, but that sits on the DA's desk and he won't do anything about it. Tammy is going to appeal and if the appeal doesn't work then we are asking the Board of Pardons for help. Thank you Linda Right now I guess we just wait and support her. I'll be honest, it has been hard on her and very emotional. In the end she felt like all the bad guys were winning. I think she's healing a bit now and ready to take them back on. I know she appreciates your support so much and I am passing this on to her. Just have to keep our chin up and know that in the end we will prevail. You can't keep the good guys down forever. Dawn

Most brutual killing of chickens and the most dirty slaughter houses for killing chickens are: KFC, Foster Farms and Tyson Farms. Don't buy chickens from these slaughter houses, they don't clean the chickens good, they have feces in the meat. These factory slaughter houses are the most brutal slaughter houses in America. KFC suppliers cram birds into huge waste-filled factories, breed and drug them to grow so large that they can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious. It would be illegal for KFC to abuse dogs, cats, pigs, or cows in these ways. KFC’s own animal welfare advisors have asked the company to take steps to eliminate these abuses, but KFC refuses to do so. Many advisors have now resigned in frustration. Please join Pamela Anderson, Sir Paul McCartney, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, The Rev. Al Sharpton, and countless other kind people worldwide by not eating at KFC. border="0"/>
URGENT ! In just a few short months hundreds of thousands of baby harp seals will be brutally killed in a 90-day bloodbath on the ice floes off Canada's east coast. This sickening ritual of blood is encouraged and promoted by the Canadian government! The seals try desperately to crawl away as the hunters run toward them but the pups are utterly helpless, and there is simply no escape from these men who are so much larger and faster. As the sealers raise their clubs, the pups turn and make a pathetic stand, rearing their small heads back and crying but the clubs smash down each and every time. Yesterday, more often than not, those clubs struck the pups in their face or jaw, instead of their skulls, only intensifing the cruelty. Without missing a beat, the sealers stabbed the pups with metal hooks and dragged them, still struggling, across ice. Please, Contact Rebecca Aldworth, The Humane Society International - United States witness to the barbarous and brutal 2007 Canadian seal hunt. 2100 L Street, NW, Washington,DC 20037, or email www.protectseals.org and ask what you can do to help protect these poor baby seals. glitter-graphics.com
In 2007, state laws in Illinois and Texas shuttered the last remaining horse slaughter plants in the United States. But the perpetrators of this grisly industry continue to ship American horses to Mexico and Canada for slaughter and for foreign consumption. The creatures endure long-distance transport and harsh killing methods. Save American horses. Call your members of Congress and urged them to support H.R. 503/S.311; ends slaughter & transport to foreign slaughterhouses. Federal Legislators: 202-224-3121
In Alaska, a state-sanctioned slaughter from the skies continues as aerial gunners shoot wolves from aircraft, or chase them to exhaustion, land and shoot wolves at point-blank range. The snow has started to fall in Alaska. Forty-six gunners have already received permits to shoot wolves from airplanes - and the first wolf could be killed any day. SAVE OUR DOLPHINS AND WHALES From oil rigs to harmful tuna fishing practices on the high seas, dolphins continue to face threats. Big Oil and their allies in Congress and the Bush/Cheney Administration want to dot our coastlines with dirty oil rigs that spew toxins into vital dolphin habitat. Large foreign fishing fleets want to sell you tuna that has been caught using dangerous practices that can kill dolphins -- and still label their products “dolphin safe.” The capture of wild dolphins and whales is violent, cruel, and disruptive to entire communities of cetaceans and the ecosystems in which they live. DECLAWING COMPLICATIONS
Before you make the decision to declaw your cat, there are some important facts you should know. Declawing is not like a manicure. It is serious surgery. Your cat's claw is not a toenail. It is actually closely adhered to the bone. So closely adhered that to remove the claw, the last bone of your the cat's claw has to be removed. Declawing is actually an amputation of the last joint of your cat's "toes". When you envision that, it becomes clear why declawing is not a humane act. It is a painful surgery, with a painful recovery period. And remember that during the time of recuperation from the surgery your cat would still have to use its feet to walk, jump, and scratch in its litter box regardless of the pain it is experiencing. Wheelchairs and bedpans are not an option for a cat.
No cat lover would doubt that cats--whose senses are much keener than ours--suffer pain. They may, however, hide it better. Not only are they proud, they instinctively know that they are at risk when in a weakened position, and by nature will attempt to hide it. But make no mistake. This is not a surgery to be taken lightly.
More reasons not to declaw your cat: Please, take that as a given. Declawing is not an acceptable option for the beautiful, loving animal that depends on you. The reasons to avoid declawing are compelling, for you as well as for your cat.
Declawing is literally maiming a cat, a mistake that can lead to physical, emotional and behavioral complications. It is erroneous to think that declawing a cat is a trivial procedure similar to trimming fingernails. A cat's claws are a vital part of its anatomy, essential to balance, mobility and survival.
Declawing is an irreversible surgical procedure that involves amputating the last joint of the cat's "toes." It is a very painful procedure with strong potential to secondary complications. (Imagine having the last joint of your own fingers amputated. Not a pleasant idea.)
On rare occasions declawing may lead to secondary contracture of the tendons. This makes it uncomfortable for the cat to walk. Since the last joints of their front paws are missing, they compensate by placing more of their weight to the hind quarters, causing them to be out of balance. This shift of weight to the hind quarters may lead to atrophy of the muscles of their front quarters.
Being out of balance is extremely distressing to a cat, whose very life is about balance. You've observed cats climbing trees, teetering perilously on a single branch, leaping incredible heights to land on a pre-selected spot, or threading in and out of complex arrangements of knickknacks without disturbing a single ornament. (Unless, of course, they choose to do so.) These are acts of balance and part of a cat's basic heritage.
In addition to being an intrinsic part of a cat's normal conformation, its front claws are a cat's primary defense. Once declawed, there is no replacement or regrowth of the claws. You may think, "My cat never goes outside." But what if your cat accidentally gets outside and you can't find her? She is now defenseless in a potentially hostile environment.
Deprived of its front claws a cat may become insecure and distressed. I can assure you that if Kitty becomes emotionally distressed, you will too. Kitty's display of distress tends to take such forms as urinating on your favorite rug or spraying your antique armoir. Feeling defenseless without her claws, Kitty may become hostile to people (including you), and to other cats and become more apt to bite.
Some cats develop an aversion to their litter box because of the pain associated with scratching in the litter after a declawing procedure. If Kitty doesn't go in the box, she will find a more comfortable place to do her business. Often times, these habits are hard to break. — Dr. Louis J. Camuti (1893-1981)
One more compelling reason not to declaw. Some European countries have ruled declawing illegal! It is considered inhumane.
“Never believe that animals suffer less than humans. Pain is the same for them that it is for us. Even worse, because they cannot help themselves.” — Dr. Louis J. Camuti (1893-1981)

Peaches just had her spay done. She has to recover first. After all it is a long trip from Conneticut to Tennessee!! And of course, Jeff is being a butt head. So goes the battle.
AT&T is probably aware of the stink Verizon has stepped into. I doubt they want such negative attention. Hopefully they will be more responsible than Verizon.
Yeah, went to bed late, got up early. I'm waiting for the appointment for the surgeon to come from my doc's office in the mail. Have you seen some of the attention Verizon is getting from the Humane Society, Peta, and even ASPCA had an announcement about their commerical. I added the article in the discussion at Pit Bulls. KEWL!!
You know, you have some really great ideas for advertising. That's what they look for, creativity. You're loaded with it.
I am so glad to be getting Peaches. I know she will fit right in here. Hey, I need another female so I'm not so outgunned by all the males in the house. LOL!!
I've had pitty's before, and they are truly wonderful dogs. Hemi, a male pit, took over a litter of kittens. hahaha...He would run Poot, the mom, out and take over cleaning their little bottoms, and just love on them.
My doberman was the same way. She just adored my girlfriends newborn son. Poor Karen, she couldn't nurse or change a diaper but what keta wasn't there making sure she did it all the right way. Animals are a God sent gift to us.
Peaches should be arriving her in early August. Susan is arranging transport, and Peachy will be well cared for on her trip. CAN'T WAIT!!!
LOO...yes, I did. I don't have her yet. Actually Susan, bullies2love, alerted me to her. She's in Conneticut right now. Susan paid the $100. pull fee and she went to a foster home. She just had her spay yesterday, so it will be a while before she comes down here.
There are some pictures of her in my pictures. She is beautiful, and Susan visited her and said she is a delight. Very loving and very good with other dogs.
