Baxter a nine year old, very mischievous and stubborn Scottish Terrier, who loves new games.
Daily reminders happy and sad, of his sister Babs who was sent to heaven because of bad breeding. ( puppy mill babies)
How we met:
My young daughter Cydni and I were at the mall and into a pet store we went. A prime example of little forethought. Would have been better to have discussed with my daughter reasons not to, but in we went. I was sadden by the conditions and knew I would alert someone and did. Seeing two little Scottish Terriers huddled together scared and so sweet, we asked to see them. The biggest mistake, but once they felt a loving touch and each one of us telling them it would be alright, knowing in our hearts, it probably wouldn't, we decided to rescue them... Yes, I made a huge mistake not going to a shelter, but the intention was not buying and fate, interveening. How do we rescue innocent animals that are in pet stores, with no choice in the matter??? Another problem we need to resolve, in he the fight for Animal Rights.
So Baxter and Babs came home with us, a few wonderful years with two, unfortunately because of bad puppy mill breeding both had allergies, Babs also Addison's disease and Baxter Hyper Thyroid condition.
Tragically our precious, Babs died at 7 from complete liver failure after years of... It was probably predisposed and from all the medications she had endured. We have dealt with my mistakes and the consequences. Baxter the more independent one, was able to move on too. If it had been Baxter that died, I think it would have eventually depressed Babs so much, being the one who loved everybody and everything, she would have died of extreme sadness. So, blessings in disguise, hard lessons learned...
Pet likes:
Baxter likes and loves toys he can chase with food in them, he likes food period and with his thyroid conditions would eat all day if you allowed him, even on te meds.
He likes walking, playing and running at the park, especially the small children's double slide where we go downside by side togeter.
Baxter likes sleeping with me and playing hide and seek under the covers. Baxter likes grunting love grunts to let you know he is happy, we love grunt back and forth together, it a daily ritual.
Pet dislikes:
Hides when it's bath time but is so happy after. Regular bathing really lessens his licking because of his allergies.
Having his nails trimmed, you'd think he was being tortured, vocal complaining.
Needs to be brushed everyday but often when he knows it's coming runs away but he always comes around.
Pet’s favorite spot:
Under the curtains by the window in any room to stay cool, my Baxter is no dummy.
Pet’s favorite toy:
Small fire engine that holds treats, he loves to run after it and toss it about to get the treat out.
Pet’s silliest habit:
sliding on his body and face along and under the covers grunting
Pet’s sweetest moments:
When I talk to him and he looks at me straight in the eyes as though he understands and sometimes I know he does.
I crack up when my pet:
Jumps and dances excitedly when he knows it's time to be fed.
My pet is unique because:
He respects and suppresses, his breeding, to hunt the little critters in our yard. I trained both Babs and Baxter not to bark or chase little critters. Of course out free or off leash the instinct would take over.

We can not let this case go. If the only reprimand he gets is 90 days and in most states this is a felony, I think we as concerned citizens should write and ask for the maximum jail time, at least. Is there a fine that has been imposed? Will speak with Robert Baker, Humane Society Of the U S and see what he knows or how we can voice our opinions on the sentence. Maybe you know?
Suzanne,
The last I heard (through civilian channels) was he got 90 days restriction. I highly doubt they are going to court martial a guy who has done 2 tours in Iraq. Some members here have tried many sources to get information, but the military doesn't doesn't let us civies know what is going on. We were all praying for something much harsher. I believe the source the info came from. So other than posting positive things, I'm done with that forum discussion. It was generating way to much negative for me to hang in there.
