Proud pet parent of:
5 Turtles:
3 Red Ear Sliders, Chase, Casey, and Clark
and 2 Mississippi Map Turtles, Mason and Maggie
3 Finches:
Zebra Finches, Fabio, Giselle, and Houdini
2 Fish:
A Betta and An opaline gourami
and a Crawdad named Stinky
RIP Stinky. March(ish) 2008- May 20, 2008
How we met:
Chase I got from a customer that was moving, when I worked at Petsmart, Casey and Clark I got from a coworker at Petsmart, Mason and Maggie I got from customers that couldn't keep them, while working at Petsmart. The finches were my dads, and Houdini is the offspring of Dad Fabior and Mom Giselle and the fish, well, I got those from petstores.
Pet likes:
My two biggest turtles, Casey and Chase LOVE crayfish (which is how I got Stinky, he was originally supposed to be food), their pellets and bologna (though that is a very rare treat). The little ones love freeze dried crickets and feeder fish (the big ones prefer live crickets, and will only eat feeder fish if they're large enough for them to not have to chase them for too long). The birds like their food and the millet..and both the birds and turtles share a love for cuttlebones.
Pet dislikes:
The turtles do not like worms. They scare them, nor do any of my animals like fruit for some reason. On occasion, Chase will eat live plants, but it is rare, so I don't really give him those because they dirty up the tank a lot.
Pet’s favorite spot:
The turtles love to bask and the finches love to chirp and talk to me on top of their water dish.
Pet’s favorite toy:
The turtles don't really have toys- and the finches have this "hay" ball in their cage and a swing that they like to play on.
Pet’s silliest habit:
Houdini got his name because he likes to sit inside his hay ball, and it's a wired, uncomfortable ball. He's goofy in general too. Also, the turtles have learned that if they swim really fast in the corner, it tells me they're hungry and I'll come over and feed them.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
The turtles will strike at food that they take out of the water, but will grab it very gently if it comes out of my hand. Also, I witnessed the growing up of Houdini. He hatched on December 31st, 2007, and I've watched how he's grown and changed every day since.
I crack up when my pet:
Sings when I sing or when the turtles jump off their log when I'm not even close enough to startle them.
My pet is unique because:
They're mine, and I love them dearly!
