Well this is hard for me to talk about but I better get it out in the open. I am writing to you today about my dog named Lil Gurl.....She had border collie in her and I think German Sheppard. She is a beautiful animal and she is truly missed. I also have 2 cats: Xena and George, I can at least keep them... Xena is 12 months, well almost, and George is 2 years. They are father daughter. I also have a cat named Eclipse. I recieved this cat when I was 9 and I am 22. She is still alive but I gave her to my grandma when my grandpa passed away. It is sad to announce that Feb 2008 my cat Xena ran away. I dont know if someone picked her up or....Well dont want to think of that. We look around for her and no one has seen her.
How we met:
How we met??? One of the police officers here in town found her for me. She was a stray and her mom and brother and sister had died. She was the only survivor. When I received her she was very sick and nearly dying too. So I took her in and treated her like a lil baby. Well we got bad news one day that we had to get rid of her. My heart broke. Well we found this place for her and she had a back yard and she was still our dog we just had to go there and feed her. She was tied up but I felt she was happier there. Well the people that were letting us use there back yard was moving and we had to find another place for her. Well we didn't have a place and I wasn't just going to let her in the streets , so we took her back to our apartment and hide her there. Well months went by and trust me I was trying to find her a good home, but no luck. My husband and I had sat down to discuss what to do with her bc we can keep her much longer hidden in this apartment. The only option was to let her go and Possum Kingdom.( A huge Lake area with lots of house). So that is what he did he took her there, found a nice picnic area and dropped her off. (God this is sooo hard to type when your balling your eyes out). I was devastated i couldn't believe that was my only option. We have a animal shelter in this town but she would of been put down in like a week, no joke. I called to 10 different animal shelter and they told me I couldn't bring her in bc I wasn't a resident. What else was I suppose to do? If the landlord would of saw her there they would of kicked us out. I couldn't just keep her bundled up in that apartment. Well about 2 weeks ago I asked my husband if we could go to the place where he dropped her off at. He assured me its been a couple of months she is probably not going to be there. I said I don't care I just want to see, and if she is there I want her home. Well we went and no Lil Gurl. I hope that she is ok and has a great family. I still cry myself to sleep every night bc I cant believe I did this, I take in alot of animals, how could I just drop one off so carelessly??

My cats:
I received my cats through a friend. I felt bad for taking them bc I had just got rid of lil gurl a month.

I received Eclipse I think through a friend. Its been soo long I really dont remember.
Pet likes:
She loved my son. Anytime he would cry, she was right there. I remember one time, we were all eating supper and I laid my plate down and she grabbed my chicken fried steak and when I turned around and looked at her she placed it back right by my feet!!! She loved to be played with and to be walked. She loved the outdoors and she loved me...

My cats:
Xena loves my son. George is more of an adult cat.

Eclipse she loves anything. She is a special cat to me.
Pet dislikes:
She really didn't like men that well. That is about it. She loved and liked everything else.

My cats:
Both of them really dont like going outside. George really doesn't like kids. He is not mean to them, he is more of an adult cat.

Eclipse really doesnt dislike anything. She kinda shys away from children.
Pet’s favorite spot:
The edge of my bed...

My cats:
My bed, under my Christmas tree, and my kitchen chairs.

Eclipses favorite spot is anywhere my grandma is.
Pet’s favorite toy:
She really didn't like toys. She loved to play with us..

My cats:
Anything they can get in to. Well Xena is more the rowdy one.

Eclipse really don't play with toys.
Pet’s silliest habit:
She was a goofy dog.

My cats:
They act silly when they are around each other.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Definitely the chicken fried steak moment. and at Christmas time when I put a bow on her head. So cute!! I remember it was like 2 in the morning and my husband was coming in from work and it was dark and the baby and dog was laying on my chest and he came in and she was barking and growling and she bit him....

My cats:
They are just sweet.

Eclipse every moment is a sweet moment.
I crack up when my pet:
Would bark at my husband, like I said she didn't like men...

My cats:
When they play together. It is soo cute bc they are father/daughter.
My pet is unique because:
She was just Lil Gurl. My Survivor!!!

My cats:
There just my cats.

Eclipse is a very unique cat. She was hit by a car years ago. We noticed it when we felt her sides and it felt very bumpy. We took her in and they said she possibly got hit by a car. She had surgery. She recovered from that very well. Then they had to do a second surgery because they missed something. She recovered from that one well. She to this day has no health problem and is a very strong cat.

Regarding the 2 kittens!!

I guess you can say I figured it out on my own. I always usual do!! All the kitties are getting along. I think my older cat can sense they are lil babies. He plays with them and the kittens play back. I think bringing these 2 kitten into our home has been better for George (our oldest cat). Since Xena(our other cat, his daughter) ran aways he was never the same. Now that we have these kittens he comes out more often and plays with them and we all play together. George seems happier and the kitte… Continue

Small Towns, Why Are Animals Least Important In Small Towns!

Ok so where do I start. I live in a very small town in Texas. Needless to say animal safety is the least important thing in this town. Why? We have a shelter in this town that is very...You cant even call it an animal shelter. Its pretty much a dump. Well anyways my friends dog got picked up by the police a couple of day ago because the dogs were in her front yard but they weren't leashed. Ok thats understandable. So they went straight into what this town calls a shelter! Well my friend didn't h… Continue

Hi Colleen, after reading that you dumped the dog to fend for itself. I have no choice but to remove you from my friends list. There are many other resources available had you only taken the time to ask memebers here or call a rescue group etc. I am appauled by this decision. Pets are not Disposable. Would you leave a defensless child on it's own? Bobbie
