Forgot to mention: I never leave Boots alone with Duncan. I am always around and keep a close eye on him. Right now, I have Duncan loose to enjoy the whole house and Boots is in the sunroom with the screen closed so he can't come in. I rotate doing this during the day. It gets very eshausting and they are all young still. I can't see doing this for at least another 15 years.

Hi Amy.

I will google the Rescue Remedy and see where I can purchase it. It will be hard to put this on Duncan as he is very shy and I am working with him to get him use to being petted everywhere and don't want to lose his trust. I can use it on Boots though. Boots loves to play chase with me and I am sure it probably started that way but since Duncan is terrified of him, it has escalated to something else.
I only squirt Boots when he has swatted Duncan or attacked him and only in the act, not afterwards. I have shown him the squirt bottle when he looks like he wants to go after him but never used it unless he did attack. The vet gave me a different anti-depressant drug to try for a few days on Boots. I hate medicating him and I won't do it long term. Its just not fair to Boots. He is a spunky cat and everyone loves him, even my friends since he runs to the door whenever the bell rings and will go up to my friend's dog (a Maltese) when she comes over with him.
If I can get the Rescue Remedy, I will try it and also this new medication for a few days unless I don't like how he is acting on it, then I will not give it to him again. If he still is attacking Duncan, then I think I need to try and let this man foster him and hope his cat gets along with him. He has a chance to live there the rest of his life if it works out and that might be the best place for him in the long run. I know Duncan will warm up to him too someday if he is patient and works with him. This will be one of the hardest decisions I will have to make and I cry just thinking about it. I can always take him back if his cat doesn't accept him.

I forgot to mention that there is a volunteer who has offered to take Duncan if things don't work out at my home. He is looking for a playmate for his cat and his cat happens to be the cat Duncan use to live with for 5 months till last Sept when that cat was returned. He said if he is a perfect match for his cat, then he could possibly consider adopting him permanently. If he isn't, then he would be back up for adoption. Do you think I should at least give this a try and see if he gets along with his cat again? This man also has a foster cat that is about 5 years old and very sweet and shy.
