Proud pet parent of:
Ella
How we met:
Humane Assoc. of Wilson County,
Lebanon, TN
She was the first puppy we saw!
Pet likes:
Peanut butter in a shank bone! Ice cubes! Kong ball, belly rubs, soft music, playing with other dogs, children, everyone and everything...but she especially loves jumping in bed to wake Dad with a big wet kiss in the morning!
Pet dislikes:
The vacuum, the lawn mower, the noisy stray cats behind our house, skunks, and bad guys, even if they're on t.v. (she'll look at the screen and bark!).
Pet’s favorite spot:
The bed, when we're all crashed out for the day. #2 would be the backyard, that's her "turf".
Pet’s favorite toy:
Her giant red Kong Ball!
Pet’s silliest habit:
Stealing socks and then parading them across the house.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
The moment she jumped into my arms the day we adopted her....the day a little boy crashed his big wheel, and she wouldn't stop kissing his teary cheeks until he was laughing. Whenever I come home from a business trip, and she nuzzles next to me all through the house for the next few days.
I crack up when my pet:
Kisses me RIGHT IN THE EAR!
My pet is unique because:
She opens doors when she plays hide and seek, she watches tv shows intently and responds curiously sometimes, she can clearly distinguish nice people from shady people anywhere we go, she has compassion for anyone who is sad, man or animal, and she befriends anyone who meets her. Her intelligence is amazing. She understands so many words, phrases, and commands. But we most treasure her capacity to love. Our lives were forever changed the day we brought our puppy home from the pound. We are very blessed to have her in our family.

Considering a Rescue Pet?

This is an anonymous posting I found on "best of craigslist". It really nails it on the head.

Considering a pet from rescue? Note to adopters

Note to adopters

Lassie, Cleo, Rin Tin Tin and Toto don't show up in rescue. We don't get the elegantly coiffed, classically beautiful, completely trained, perfectly behaved dog. We get the leftovers. Dogs th… Continue

THE place to board your pet in Tennessee!

We recently boarded Ella at The Farm @ Natchez Trace in Franklin, Tennessee. When we got back from vacation, I swear to god, Ella was in better shape than when we left her! To avoid separation anxiety, The Farm modeled their facility after some concept kennels in Europe. Check them out here:

Hi Jeremy,
It's so nice to hear from you again. I'm a little confused about why you sent me a link about dogs & antifreeze.
So, you are thinking about doggie DNA testing....hmmm, I've never heard of it, but it sounds interesting. I would love to find out what happened to Kita before we took her in. Was she abandoned, ran away, or did someone try to end her life. Guess I would have to contact the Pet Psychic to answer that question. Your inquiry would be easier to do : ).
Took all of my dogs to the vet recently to have things taken care of...shots, heartworm/fecal testing, etc. Miss Kita is up to 123 lbs. Will she ever stop growing?! My lab, Doogie, is now on a diet. He gained about 15 lbs! I was shocked when he tipped the scales at 95 lbs. He hides it well. He just doesn't look like he gained that much weight. So far he has lost 3 lbs : ). I should go on a diet with him.
Nice vacation pictures. I love going to the mountains too. Ella looks like she had a great time.
Take it easy,

Janice

Hey... Sorry I did not get back sooner, but I have been out of town for a week or so. I loved your comment, it was so funny.. I can just see Ella under the bed hiding with her tail tapping on the floor thinking "They don't have a clue where I am" Priceless!!! I love your pics and Ella looks like a pretty lucky doggie to me..

Hi, Ella is beautiful ! I live in the Smoky Mtns. , but have made frequent trips to Nashville the past year. So my daughter could lobby and fight for the antifreeze bittering law. Ginni

Hey.. Thats funny.. Lexi is in the tub because she is afraid of thunderstorms and thats where she hides.. Im always afraid she will hurt her legs getting in the tub as she has really bad arthritis and trouble going up steps and I think she may hurt herself or slip getting in the tub.. But it is funny everytime it starts to thunder I go "Where is Lexi" and there she is, in the tub..lol Seems like you have Ella trained for the baths.. Lucky you!!

Hey.. Thanks! Yes, shepherds are so smart its scary. lol I love your slide show. It's funny, My Luke loves his little plastic swimming pool and I see Ella does too. He also has a big plastic ball like she does but that is all he will play with. I wish I could get him to just chase a regular ball but he will have no part of it. What a beautiful face Ella has. Have a great day..

Ella's paw healed up nicely. She's back in training, & is back to being her silly, loving self!

Hi Jeremy,
I'm glad you liked my little lap dog picture. She keeps me warm on a cold winter's night. We got 9 inches of snow today. Kita loves to romp in the snow and take in big mouthfuls when she gets thirsty.
Kita will sulk too when she gets in trouble. I've never taken her to an obedience class. I learned how to train dogs when Pilot and Doogie were Paws With a Cause foster puppies. Neither one made the cut so I guess I'm not that good at training. My triumphs with Kita is the fact that she does not pull when I take her for a walk and she comes to me when I call her. It's funny, but she won't come at all for my daughters and she has to be coaxed by my husband. She's my baby all right.
