There are a total of four pets in my family. I have a dog , Luna and she is a pitbull mix. I also have a black cat. Her name is tearineye. Not really sure of her breed. The other two pets in the house belong to my wife Mercy. Mercys dog is Sugar and she is a chichauchau mix. She also has a black cat , but with some white patches on his chest. His name is Trance.
How we met:
First in the house was Tearineye. I adopted her from the humane society after moving back into town . Been on the road , riding my Harley for a while and needed some companionship. Tearineye was perfect. Then as fate would have it, in a bar one night I met my wife Mercy. With Mercy came Sugar , her dog she " saved" from a rough life in the country. Mercy adopted another , this time a cat , Trance , from a pet shop in Alabama. Lastly is Luna. Named after the Goddess of the Moon - Luna. I had adopted her also from a rough life out in the country.
Pet likes:
Hmm where do I start. Tearineye loves tunafish and pretty much be left alone. She is a sweet cat. Not "needy" at all and when she wants attention , she comes and gets it. Sugar - lol - she is a handful. As with all small dogs Sugar is wound like a cheap watch when she is excited. Sugar most of all I would have to say , LOVES her momma. Sugar is ALWAYS at Mercys side. Very protective and a good dog. Trance - - he's just Trance. Comes and goes when he wants and is ALWAYS in good spirits about everything. Luna - - still too early to tell. Luna is only about 7 weeks old and about the only thing I can tell she really likes is sleeping - lol - and her daddy.
Pet dislikes:
Luna , my pit is only 7 weeks old and both of us are still learning from one another. I can tell you this , she hates walking on our cold wooden floors in the morn. Tearineye my cat , hates sudden movement. I adopted her from the humane society and when I did she had just got over two broken hind legs. So she is very skittish of anyone at times. Sugar , my wife Mercys dog , hates it you grab her hind legs. I do it mostly whileplaying and it drives her nuts. Trance , Mercys cat ....well he is so easy going i dont think he dislikes anything.
you're the guy that asked about the possible parvo in your pitty pup? if you are, you should take it to a vet. there is insurance for dogs that could maybe pay for the vet bill.
She is a cutie, for sure. You can create a healthy diet and not go broke, and it doesn't mean you have to cook for her, either. After the article below, check out, for example, Pitcairns book on Healthy Dog and Cat Care, it is more than likely in your library and will help you get started.
Here is my universal advice. Health and personality begin with nutrition. Don't use dry food. Don't buy junk food. Learn to read labels and a little about canine nutrition, and you will reap huge rewards. See: Whats Really in Pet Food @ http://www.api4animals.org/facts.php?p=359&more=1.
When we evacuated Biloxi after Katrina, we went to Ohio. At the time I had 3 pitbull puppies, fully vaccinated and healthy. We were there about a week and the biggest and strongest started vomiting and having diarreah, then a bloody stool. The vet said it was Parvo and to bring the other two in for observation; within a day "Tank died." Both of his brothers had contracted Parvo also. Two days later, "Blue" died. "Scar" (see attached photo) was given continuous IV's and a human prescription drug called "Tamiflu," for about another ten days. He not only survived, but has thrived, so there is hope if you get immediate help from a vet that knows about treating this disease.
Todd, if indeed your puppy has parvo, this is very serious. You shouldn't attempt to treat it on your own, no matter what your financial circumstances. You need a proper diagnosis.
Here are some organizations who can help guardians that cannot afford vet care. A couple are for rescue organizations and homeless pets. Some of these organizations help only in EMERGENCY situations - not for people who can't or won't provide basic care - although I think there are some organizations listed here who provide help to special needs people, like elderly who are on fixed incomes.
