Zoe(1 year old choc. lab), Zeus3 year old rat terrier), Xena and matrix (our kitties) We also have three fire bellied toads named bubba, lilly, and fred.
How we met:
xena was our first pet...she was sooo vocal and had such a great personality we had to bring her home. Matrix was found through a pet rescue society, she is a very strange cat but we love her. Zeus we got from a friend that had a litter of pure bred puppys he is our household entertainment. Zoe was a birthday gift to me from my husband. She is my girl! she weighs 75+lbs and she loves to sit in my lap.
Pet likes:
Zeus is very into barking and balls, Zoe is very into sleeping and swimming. Xena loves treats and taunting dogs...she is a little turd cat. Matrix loves night time when the kids are asleep ha ha. AS FOR THE TOADS THEY JUST LIKE THEIR CRICKETS...KIND OF SIMPLE CREATURES.
Pet dislikes:
Zeus does not like anyone or anything outside our house...he even barks at bugs, Zoe however likes everything and everyone. Xena dislikes matrix with every ounce of her being(she doesn't like the competiton) back to her being a turd cat. Matrix really does not like loud anything..she stays in our room most of the day.
Pet’s favorite spot:
Both dogs love laps, couches, and our 5 acres on the river. Xena loves to sleep with our oldest son....he is her pet really. Mtrix claims our bed as her own..we just borrow it at night.
Pet’s favorite toy:
zeus(balls), Zoe (anything she can chew on), xenas favorite toy is us(she makes us do whatever she wants), Matrix doesn't play she is very serious.
Pet’s silliest habit:
zeus runs across our yard bouncing the ball on his nose(a basketball) and zoe has to find you and lick you after drinking water...god it's gross...BUT FUNNY.
Pet’s sweetest moments:
zeus sleeps with our youngest son most nights, my son has never slept better. Zoe is always so happy and loves to give kisses galore, she is my big dopey girl.
I crack up when my pet:
Our cat xena chases my husband around the house when provoked....god its funny! Our cat matrix loves me sooo much that she sits on my husbands face in bed so he doesn't get my attention.
My pet is unique because:
Our cat Matrix has six toes on each paw...her feet look huge!
It's so funny how we develop phobias as we grow older. I used to trout fish when I lived in Oregon. I would always use salmon eggs. I went with a friend and he had these huge nightcrawlers. He had to bait my hook. I wouldn't touch them. Geez, I used to play with them when I was a kid. Eeewwww...gives me the shivers just thinking about it!! LOL!!!
When I was a kid I was fearless. I honestly blame my fear of snakes on my mother. LOL!!! I was holding a little black snake and mom happened to drive by and see this. Holy moly, the tires smoked from her slamming on the brakes. She ripped into reverse and screamed at me. Hahahaha........the snake went flying and i've been afraid of them ever since. I tried to get over it. A friend of mine was stationed in Jacksonville, Fl and he had a baby boa. That snake loved to be held. I tried, really tried to touch it and get over my fear. Just couldn't do it. She was such a pretty snake and when he put her back into her aquarium she would hold on to the edge with her head!! He also showed up to a keg party with a tarantula named Nina, under his hat. Nice guy, just strange pets. LOL!!!
I saved a little green tree frog one time. I was in a truck stop in Nashville, Tn and saw this little guy on the floor. He had been stepped on and got one of his little feet squished. I felt so sorry for him.
I took a deep breath and picked him up and took him out into the woods and put him on a tree branch. People looked at me like I was nuts. Don't really care either!! LOL
I've picked up a couple of dogs in my travels, too. Always left at a truck stop. I found them good homes. Heck, one night on very rural road somewhere in Alabama, I even swerved to avoid running over a huge snake that was crossing. (wasn't sucessful though) :-( I felt pretty bad. I'm not a snake lover, but they have a purpose on this earth, too.
Wonderful fur family!! And the toads are nothing like I've seen.
I'm more of a fur person, but I can appreciate the beauty of other species. I do however have a thing for tree toads. They're just so darn cute!!! And I like my little toads out in my flower garden. Don't especially want to touch them, but I love having them live there. LOL!!
