Profile Information

Proud pet parent of:
2 spoiled rotten Pomeranians, Priss and Baybee.
I've had Pomeranians underfoot for ... probably something over 25 years. Ranging from just 1 to as many as 6.

How we met:
Priss and Baybee are both rescues from awful situations.

Priss 1
I discovered a little red Pom living next door to an aunt I was visiting. I could hear a dog bark but couldn't see where it was. My aunt said it was horrible how it was over there. Priss was put into chicken coop and treatment alternated between abuse and neglect. She was eating chicken feed, eggs... dead chickens... Her coat was one solid mass of matted hair, mud, grass burrs, mud, feathers... use your imagination. I went to check it out and was horrified. I knocked on the door of the house in front of the chicken coop. I said, "I want your dog. Now. Or I'm going to the Sheriff with pictures." They shoved her into my arms said her name and shut the door.

Priss 2

Despite her condition she was so excited by the attention, I nearly dropped her. I couldn't begin to wash or brush it out. I just sheared her down to near her skin. Priss had never been socialized, and didn't even know her name. At first I just didn't think it was going to work out. I'd had Poms for a long time, but this was a whole different situation. Trust was difficult for her and after nearly 4 years, it still takes time for her to warm up to new people.

Priss 3

Its been a learning experience for both of us, but Priss come a very long way to learn that she can love... and be loved.

Baybee was left at a vets office to be euthanized. She was terribly overweight and had a bad case of mange.

BB 1

After some TLC from a tender hearted veternarian and treatments for the skin condition she was up for adoption. I had been thinking about a brother or sister for Priss, and had been browsing www.petfinder.com for a couple of months when her profile was sent to me in a requst match. I looked at the pic and thought she was cute, but just clicked on to the next one. Some time went by and I kept thinking about that little black pom and decided to see if she was still available.

BB 2

It took hours! But I found her profile again and she was still waiting for a new home. I sent in an inquiry ... then to make a longer story short, I had no idea the adoption process was so thorough! Three pages of stuff! Priss and I passed! The local shelter handler even brought BB to me from across town. She has a couple of dime sized spots where her hair may never grow back, but rest is long and dense enough to cover it up.

BB 3

Priss and BB are as different as night and day, and there is never a dull moment here.

Pet likes:
Toys, tummy rubs, home made treats, and lots of attention. They both learned to use the doggie door. Priss in a matter of days, and BB in ... I think an hour!

Pet dislikes:
Abuse and neglect

Pet’s favorite spot:
My Lap

Pet’s favorite toy:
There are so many...! Priss enjoys a simple sock to throw around. BB likes the ones that squeak or rattle.
PhotobucketDoggie MomPhotobucket
Pet’s silliest habit:
Priss chases her tail and barks at rain. BB gets furious at the squirrels on the porch.

Pet’s sweetest moments:
When Priss and BB play together. They both have .... issues. Trust is difficult for Priss, and BB still has so much puppy in her. But, despite those difficult memories, when they play I can't help but stop what I'm doing and watch.
Photobucket
I crack up when my pet:
When Priss is playing with a sock and throws it up on something where she can't reach, she has this 'look' like... "Well, get it!"
BB will throw her toys up high in the air and do a back flip and sometimes catches it!

Hugged Dog?
My pet is unique because:
Because I love them. Two lost and abandoned, neglected and uncared for little sweethearts have a home and love.
If a Pom were as big as their heart, they'd be the size of a house.

Anthropomorphism: I've got a SERIOUS case

Anthropomorphism: Do You Have It?>
Well, maybe not permanently fatal, but sure does result in some awfully spoiled rotten Pomeranians. Two of them specifically... Priss and BB. And every fuzzkid I've had before them. I've noticed a certain exponentially increasing amount of the 'spoiled rotten' condition as the years go by. By the time I'm ready to turn toes up, everyone will want to be my do… Continue

One more safe... at least for today

Yesterday I was out running several errands I needed to get done before my vacation starts next week. In the process I remembered an ad I had seen on TV ... Burger King I think. The burger they were promoting sounded positively yummy, so I stopped by a local BK and try one out. Before I even got out of my truck I could hear the cries of a dog. I stood in the parking lot for a min and heard it again... then found the car it was in. OMG... a little Chihuahua was in a car. The back windows were cra… Continue

Adopt a black pet...

There was a news item this morning... just one of those interesting tidbits they tag on to the end of a segment that said black dogs/cats - puppies/kittens are the least often adopted. Humm.....
I guess I never gave it any thought, but at Halloween,… Continue

Memo to auto makers:

Have you ever wondered why the auto makers have named their vehicles after cats? And horses? And some things that aren't even real words? Just what exactly is a Camry anyway? Its not even in the dictionary! What the devil is a Seabring? There's even a "Gator!"
But no dogs. I created a list of some possibilities that I'd like to present to the automakers:

In no particular order, here are some suggestions:

Ford Pomeranian - Small, compact little car with a heart of gold.… Continue

We love your page and the property laws and the poster on the pom page-thy are absolutely true! We also know what that look is when I'm supposed to "pick it up" or go get something for the "little princess". Sabrina was also abused, neglected to some point and my daughter actually found her after she crossed a busy highway and jumped into her car-she had been on the run the vet thought for a couple weeks and had a gash in her neck where "something" tore her collar and tags off. That was about 7 years ago and my daughter gave her to me a couple years ago when the daycare she had and Sabrina didn't mix and she had to keep her in "temporary soliatry" much of the day-which of course doesn't sit well with all the attention a pom wants! Sabrina is always sitting in the middle of the room where she can see everything that's going on and be the center! Priss and Sabrina look alot alike!
