Ivy, Kali, Bird, lil' Friend,Parker, BG, Mr. Blue (all cats), Shida, (My Alaskan Malamute), Olive, (conure bird
How we met:
I got Ivy from a grocery store, she had 3 kitties, 2 of which we still have, Kali and Bird. This was about 16 years ago. Parker was my Granddaughter's cat that she had to get rid of so of course Grandma took her. She is a sweetheart. BG and Mr. Blue were strays that decided that they wanted to stay with me. Olive was bought for me from a friend and Shida was adopted from the organization WAMAL who deals in the rescue of Alaskan Malamutes....I am a volunteer.
Pet likes:
Cats love to be loved and are always on my lap every chance they get. Shida loves her walks and our adventrures that we go on. Olive mostly just likes to ride around on my shoulder and talk in my ear, clean my ear, my eye lashs, my nose..LOL...BG and MR. Blue like to spray all over everything even though they have been neutered...agh!!!!!!
Pet dislikes:
the cats - none really they are too spoiled Shida - not going on walks, Olive - not being talked to or given any attention
Pet’s favorite spot:
Cats - everywhere, Shida - on the end of leash or on her bed, Olive - on my shoulder
Pet’s favorite toy:
Typical cat toys, chase the mouse etc.. Shida is not really into toys that much. She would much rather chew up her bed!! Olive - All of them that are hanging all over her cage!!
Pet’s sweetest moments:
Of course when they are sleeping!!

Geez, I'm sorry Wendy. I thought you had mentioned something about Alaskan Malamutes. I must have gotten you mixed up with someone else. Your boys are very handsome and look like sweethearts. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures!!
What we do with shy Mals is just make sure that you take them alot of places with difference noises and with people around. Stay very calm with him and don't let him see any anxiety in you. Try to introduce him to all different ages and when you approach another person just act normal and let him go up to the person...not the other way around. When at home tell visitors that your dog is in training and ask them not to approach Thor. Let Thor get comfortable and approach them. Ask them not to reach out towards Thor even when Thor is doing the approaching and just let him sniff and come to his own conclusions!! He will come around, just don't force it on him because right now he views people as scary things so the more that you let him do it on his terms the less scary it will be for him!!! Hope this helps. I hope your arm and shoulder recover quickly. It must be hard to be one handed!!!

Hi,
The boys are German Sheps but thanks for asking if I had a question. I decided that until I have full use of my right arm and shoulder (rotator cuff surgery last week) I would wait to join in the conversations. My right arm is in a sling/shoulder immobilizer and it takes forever to type anything right now. My question was more about how work with Thor to get him over being extremely shy around people.
Thanks,
Wendy
